RV_Marquardt_CanadaResearch Visit of Nicolai Marquardt in CanadaDescriptionNicolai Marquardt was a visiting research student at the GroupLab of the University of Calgary from September 2005 until February 2006. In the research project "Shared Phidgets" he has developed a toolkit for the rapid prototyping of distributed physical user interfaces. This project continues the work with the USB connected Phidget devices (see Phidgets.com for a complete list of available devices) introduced by the GroupLab in 2001.Figure 1. Phidget components: sensors (e.g., force, light, touch, temperature), RFID reader, interface kit, servo motors, and text LC displays. The toolkit includes a server (with a shared dictionary instance), connection drivers (to share device status to the dictionary), tools to observe, simulate and control connected devices as well as a developer library with components that can be integrated into VisualStudio.NET. For more information, download and tutorials please visit the Project Page of Shared Phidgets. Figure 2.
