Amsterdam - Web 2.0 Multi - User Applications - Winter Term 2005/2006
Description
AJAX stands for 'Asynchronous Java Script And XML', which refers to the practice of building web pages that are updated dynamically via small HTTP transactions without reloading the entire page. AJAX enables web applications that have the richness of a legacy desktop application without resorting to proprietary plugins like Flash or Java. Web pages such as Google Gmail have quickly popularized this.
The project's goal is to build a framework that combines AJAX with persistent HTTP connections (server push), thus enabling two-way communication between the browser and the server. The abilities of the framework will be demonstrated by building a set of multi user applications including instant messaging, day planners and play list editors.
