CoDaMine - Leveraging Instant Messaging by Communication Data Mining

The increasing popularity of instant messaging in many different areas poses the question how the user could be better supported, handling communication in different situations.

The starting point for this work is PRIMIFaces. This system introduces the concept of face-based instant messaging embracing mechanisms for selective information disclosure; based on the user’s context faces are configured and contacts applied to them. This way the user is able to specify the kind and amount of information he wants to reveal in a specific context.

Our aim is to investigate how the system can support the mapping of contacts to faces in order to enhance the user experience. Therefore the system will analyse the message traffic for communication patterns utilizing text mining techniques in order to provide the user with suggestions for adapting his configuration.
