EU_ALSAdaptive Learning Spaces: ALSDescriptionThe goal of the ALS project is to develop novel concepts and technologies for the advanced social interaction between instructors and learners as well as among learners. Towards this end we widen the range of guidance and support for learners and instructors, and we provide novel means to support the social cohesion in teams of learner. This was achieved by developing, field-testing and making openly available a software infrastructure that builds upon and goes beyond the state-of-the-art in the fields of e-learning and adaptive hypermedia systems. It supports the creation of active, personalised learning spaces that have a clear focus on learning activities by treating learners as active members of and contributors to their learning environments, rather than as passive consumers of contents. Current State and ResultsThe project's main outputs includes software technologies as well as a series of Best Practices reports that accumulate the project's acquired knowledge and experience in integrating these technologies into traditional as well as blended learning settings. The main focus of the Cooperative Media Lab in this project is to develop and integrate novel concepts supporting communication and awareness in Adaptive Learning Spaces.
