The Faculty of Media of the Bauhaus-University Weimar, CSCW Group, invites applications for a position opening on 1 August 2006 of an

Research Assistant/PhD Position (German tariff scale IIa BAT-O) (Ref.: M/AP-08/06)

In the CSCW Group we develop, implement, and evaluate concepts and system for the support of cooperative work, cooperative learning, and social interaction. In particular, we develop distributed, ubiquitous platforms for the context-based and location-independent support of cooperation in groups.

Successful candidates will, therefore, work in the areas Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and in particular Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing. Assistants at the Bauhaus-University Weimar are paid employees of the university, who pursue a Ph.D. and participate in the research, teaching and other activities of the CSCW group.

We wish:

• Master degree in Computer Science or related areas is a prerequisite
• Experience in the areas of CSCW, HCI, Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing
• Experience with programming (esp. Java)
• Mac OS X knowledge is bonus
• Good command of English (and willingness to learn German)

• Salary according to German tariff scale IIa BAT-O, full-time (i.e. Euro 2000+ p.m. depending on age and education)

Wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiterin / Mitarbeiters (Vergütungsgruppe IIa BAT-O; Kennzeichen: M/AP-08/06)

zu besetzen.

An der Professur CSCW werden Konzepte und Systeme zur Unterstützung von Zusammenarbeit, von gemeinsamem Lernen und von sozialer Interaktion entworfen, realisiert und evaluiert. Insbesondere geht es dabei um die Konzeption und Entwicklung verteilter, ubiquitärer Plattformen zur kontextbasierten und ortsunabhängigen Unterstützung von Kooperation in Gruppen.

Als Mitarbeiter/Mitarbeiterin sollen Sie sich daher mit den Themen Rechnergestützte Gruppenarbeit (Computer-Supported Cooperative Work, CSCW) und Mensch-Maschine Interaktion (Human-Computer Interaction, HCI) sowie insb. Mobile und Ubiquitaere Systeme beschäftigen und aktiv an der Lehre und Forschung der Professur CSCW mitarbeiten.

Gewünscht wird:

• abgeschlossenes Universitätsstudium der Informatik, o.ä. (u.U. auch Fachhochschule) gilt als Voraussetzung
• Erfahrungen auf den Gebieten CSCW, HCI, Mobile und Ubiquitäre Systeme
• Programmiererfahrung (insb. Java)
• Mac OS X Kenntnisse sind von Vorteil
• gute Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift

Geboten wird:

• Vergütung nach Vergütungsgruppe IIa BAT-O im vollen Beschäftigungsausmaß
• Möglichkeit zur wissenschaftlichen Weiterbildung / Promotion
• Mitarbeit in einem interdisziplinären, dynamischen, wachsenden Umfeld

Die Stelle ist zunächst auf zwei Jahre befristet, eine Verlängerung bis insgesamt sechs Jahre ist möglich. Die Möglichkeit zur Teilzeitbeschäftigung ist gegeben.
