Locked Workspace on Shared Directory

When working with Eclipse and placing the workspace on a shared directory (i.e., the home directory on the lab computers is mounted from a shared directory), the following error may occur:

Workspace is in use or cannot be created.

Solution

Disable locking in Eclipse configuration file:

• Locate Eclipse installation directory
• Goto subfolder configuration
• Open config.ini in edit mode
• Add: osgi.locking=none
